Riding the Revolution: The Ridley Auto Glide 750 Legacy

In 1995, a visionary father-son duo, Clay and Jay Ridley, embarked on a mission to revolutionize the motorcycle industry. Their dream of introducing automatic motorcycles to the market took shape with the creation of Ridley Motorcycles, and their first model, the Speedster, quickly captured attention with its unique size and a proprietary 600cc V-twin engine.

The Speedster, a 3/4 scaled motorcycle, not only boasted a distinctive size but also delivered astonishing speeds, keeping Ridley Motorcycles’ innovative approach discreet from larger manufacturers. As success built momentum, Ridley expanded its lineup, and in 2002, they unveiled a groundbreaking model – the Auto-Glide, the first full-sized, fully automatic transmission street motorcycle.

Answering the demands of riders, Ridley found a niche with its core product focus: low seat height, light vehicle weight, and fully automatic transmission. Thousands of Ridley motorcycles hit the roads globally, gaining popularity among riders seeking a unique and user-friendly riding experience.

However, the economic downturn in 2009 forced Ridley Motorcycle to close its doors due to challenges in retail and wholesale financing. Yet, the demand for Ridley parts and accessories remained high, leading to 2 Wheel Ventures stepping in. As Ridley’s official licensee, 2 Wheel Ventures acquired the company’s assets, including millions in parts, production equipment, tooling, patents, and trademarks.

Now under the management of 2 Wheel Ventures, Ridley’s future shines bright. Focused on keeping Ridley Motorcycles alive, 2 Wheel Ventures offers NOS parts, technical support, and new accessories. Committed to reviving America’s Automatic Motorcycle company, they aim to help more riders experience the freedom and joy of riding two (or three) wheels on a Ridley Automatic Motorcycle.

Ridley Genuine Parts (RGP), a division of 2 Wheel Ventures, operates from a 40,000 square foot facility near the original assembly plant. With former Ridley Motorcycle team members on staff, RGP preserves the culture and attitude that made Ridley Motorcycles an impactful force in motorcycling.

As the economy recovers, the Ridley brand, now in the capable hands of 2 Wheel Ventures, is poised for a resurgence. The legacy of Ridley Motorcycles lives on, promising a future where riders continue to enjoy the thrill of the open road on a Ridley Automatic Motorcycle.
